About Us
Bayer CropScience raised sales in 2013 by 9.4% (Fx & portfolio adj.) to 8,819 million (reported: +5.2%). Thus we succeeded in substantially growing the business despite the late start to the season in the northern hemisphere.
Sales in Crop Protection / Seeds developed positively, due to the attractive market environment and especially to an increase in sales of the new Crop Protection products we have launched since 2006 to more than 1,510 million (reported: approx. +30%). Sales in the Seeds unit rose slightly overall despite reduced canola and cotton acreages in North America. The Environmental Science unit also registered a small increase in sales.

Research & Development
  • Our research activities push the boundaries of what science can do. And the passion we bring to them comes from a very urgent concern: to make sure everyone gets enough to eat.
It’s not an impossible dream. With enough hard work and determination, we believe it’s within reach. However, science and technology alone cannot tackle such a complex challenge – factors such as political environmental, infrastructure and education also play a crucial role.
The stakes are high when it comes to research. It’s the key not just to the success of our business, but to healthy food for everyone. So we put ten per cent of our earnings straight back into the lab – where each project takes us a step closer to our objective. We know we sometimes have to wait for the big wins: it can take around ten years to develop a breakthrough crop protection product or a seed variety.
