Made from sugar free potatoes with a tangy taste of tomato.
2 medium-large firm green tomatoes – sliced
salt/pepper
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs – beaten
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
What to do:
1. Season sliced tomatoes with salt/pepper. Set aside.
2. Place oil into a shallow saute pan and heat over medium-high heat.
3. WHILE oil is heating. Lightly sprinkle flour onto both sides of seasoned tomato slices. Set up your dredging station by placing: eggs, milk, salt and pepper into a shallow dish. Whisk to combine. Into a second shallow dish add flour. Take lightly floured tomato slices and dip them into egg mixture. Coat both sides. Transfer to flour. Coat both sides. Tap off excess.
4. CAREFULLY place breaded tomato slices into oil. Do not crowd pan, cook in batches if necessary. Cook slices until golden on both sides. Transfer fried green tomatoes to a plate lined with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Plants of this hybrid are vigorous, tall determinate with good foliar cover and is recommended for summers in South India when TLCV incidence is high. This hybrid is medium late in maturity. The fruits have green shoulder and are flat round in shape, 80-90 g, with good firmness and smoothness. It is an excellent yielder. It is tolerant to TLCV (in South India). Fruits are acidic in taste.
