The little idea which can help you in packing at the time of Moving,
Put heavy items in small boxes and light items in big boxes, Pack
non-breakables tightly in smaller boxes, so they're not too heavy, Use
clean newsprint to wrap items and bubble wrap for padding, Pack
breakables loosely in plastic storage bins with lots of bubble wrap,
Mark your boxes by room that help you at the time of Moving, You can
also choose a Color-coding or number system, Place heavier items in the
bottom of the box and lighter items on top. Number boxes when they are
packed and sealed, Get more strong packing boxes than you think you will
need, Make sure the bottom of each box with at least one strip of
packing tape, Pack boxes firmly to prevent the contents from shifting
during your move.
Packing Electronic Items:
Electronic Things like Receiver, Cordless, CD, Calculator etc wrap in
a clean paper to protect them from dust. After that use polythene to
cover up or you can pad them with bubble wrap. Carefully pack each item
in a carton, which is well built. Securely seal the carton and mark the
outside of the box to indicate that it is easily broken things ".
Disconnect wires attached to movable hardware, such as a modem or mouse
from your computers. Detach paper holders/feeders from printers. Wrap
monitors in clean linen or paper to protect from scratches. Back up all
files on your hard drive. Dry out refrigerator and freezer, especially
those with an ice maker. Clean and dry washing machine. Computers, TVs
Electronics: Use original packaging, or buy electronic-specific
boxes.
Packing Appliances
Remove grease from the stove top/range/oven. Remove any glass trays
from appliances. Pack them separately. Clean small appliances, fill
empty space with paper and wrap separately. Put your microwave, VCR,
etc. into boxes, and cushion with rolling paper. Use an extra large box
for lampshades and cushion them well. Remove bulbs before packing lamps.
Number boxes when they are packed and sealed. Make sure that all loose
parts in your refrigerator.
Light Items
Seal open bottles with tape before packing to avoid spills, Leave
clothes in dresser drawers and hang clothes in wardrobe boxes, Wrap very
small items in bright colored tissue so they won't get lost. Place
pictures in boxes between sheets and blankets for added protection.
Plates and record albums should be packed on end vertically - not
stacked. Books: Pack them flat in small cartons, alternating bindings,
Bicycle handlebars should be loosened and turned sideways. Don't forget
to keep the chains and pedals covered, otherwise grease and oil might
rub off on other items, Carpets and rugs should be rolled up and
carefully secured with tape or rope, Small mirrors should be carefully
wrapped and packed in boxes.
Heavy Items
Tie bed frames together with tape or rope, then label the pieces so
they're easy to reassemble, Fill drawers with clothes or fragile,
well-wrapped items. Cover with a blanket or furniture pads and rope
securely, Table Remove legs, pad and tie together. Put nuts and bolts in
a bag and tape under tabletop, Chairs: Wrap arms legs with bubble
wrap. Leave slipcovers on or buy chair bags for protection, Bicycles:
Loosen the handlebars and turn them sideways. Cover chains and pedals to
keep grease off other items. Mirrors:-Wrap with bubble sheet and
Thermacol, Plants: Put in plastic bags with air holes, then in boxes. ,
