Production of Methyl Propyl Ketone
MPK is a naturally occuring chemical. It can be formed via β-oxidation of hexanoic acid by the peroxisomal pathway proposed for methylketone-producing fungi and yeasts.

• Special protective equipment for fire-fighters : Wear an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus in addition to standard fire fighting gear

First Aid
• If inhaled : Move to fresh air. Treat symptomatically. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
• In case of skin contact : Wash off with soap and water.
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
• In case of eye contact : Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
• If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention

Uses
Methyl propyl ketone (MPK) or 2-Pentanone is a medium evaporating, urethane-grade solvent. It’s commonly used as a solvent for synthetic resins as well as in gravure printing inks and cleaning and surface preparation applications for the transportation industry.
