Let's talk about the terms often used interchangeably but are actually quite different.

A smart home is where devices are connected to the network and can be controlled via mobile app or voice assistants. i.e.

You turn on the bedroom lights using an app.

You turn on the Geyser socket via an app

The above are examples of smart home devices.

Home Automation is where devices communicate with each other to change the state of a system in response to an event. i.e.

The motion sensors detect that no one is at home and the lights turn off.

Your living room AC turns on triggered by your GPS location when you are about to reach home from your office.
