VIROPIL
PRODUCT DETAILS
Viropil belongs to a class of antiviral drugs that inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus from replicating in the body. It is a combination medicine used to treat HIV and the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Please note that Viropil is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and should only be used under the guidance of a doctor.
Indications of Viropil:
Viropil is indicated for use in conjunction with other antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV-1 in adult and pediatric patients weighing at least 30-35kg. It helps reduce the amount of HIV in the body, allowing the immune system to function more effectively and improving the quality of life. Viropil does not eliminate the risk of HIV complications such as cancer or new infections.
How to Use and Administer the Drug:
Before starting or during treatment with Viropil, patients should be tested for hepatitis B virus infection. The usual dose of Viropil is one tablet once daily, containing 50mg of dolutegravir, 300mg of lamivudine, and 300mg of Tenofovir DF, for HIV-1 infected adult and pediatric patients weighing at least 30-35kg. The drug can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may enhance exposure.
Overdosage:
There is no specific treatment for overdose. In case of overdose, patients should receive standard supportive treatment and be monitored for evidence of toxicity. Symptoms of dolutegravir overdose may include difficulty breathing. For lamivudine and Tenofovir overdose, continuous hemodialysis for 4 hours may remove approximately 10% of the drug.
