- Ursodeoxycholic:
- Reduces the ratio of cholesterol to bile salts plus phospholipids in bile, causing de
- saturation of cholesterol saturated bile Thus it causes gallstones to dissolve
- Silimarin : Helps in regenerating liver tissue, controls inflammation, enhances
- glucuronidation and protects Liver.
- Pharmaco kinetics :
- . Ursodeoxycholic acid is absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract and undergoes
- first pass metabolism and enterohepatic recycling. It is partially conjugated in the
- liver before being excreted into bile and undergoing 7-α-dehydroxylation to
- lithocholic acid, some of which is excreted directly in the faeces. The rest is absorbed
- and mainly conjugated and sulphated by the liver before excretion in the faeces.
- Silymarin is orally absorbed and is excreted mainly through bile as sulphates and
- conjugates.
- Indication ;
- Hepatobiliary disorders: Primary Biliary Cirrhosis
- Gastrointestinal disorders: Dissolution of gallstones
- Dosage : 1 Or 2 Tab daily.
- Side Effect : Dyspepsia, Nausea, Iirregular stool and Diarrhoea
