• Synonyms: Iron Ascorbate

• Description : Fine, Dark violet coloured spray dried powder, without any odour and having a feeble astringent test.
• Solubility : 10% w/v Easily soluble in water, practically Insoluble inmost of the organic solvents like Acetone,Ethanol, and, propanol.
• Clarity : 1% solution in water clear without any sedimentation.
• 1% solution in 1N Hydrochloric Acid gives colorless to pale yellow clear solution.
• Identification: Ferrous Iron- Gives blue colour to potassium ferricyanide.
• Ascorbic Acid- Gives orange - red colour to Di-nitro phenyl hydrazine reagent.
• Loss On Drying : .M.T 10% as loss on drying at 105⁰C
• pH of 1% solution : 5.5-7.5
• Bulk Density : 0.4 to 0.55
• Heavy Metals : Not more than 50 ppm.
• Arsenic : NMT 2 ppm
• Lead : NMT 20 ppm
• Ferrous Iron content : 13.0% to 16.0% (On Dried Bases)
• Ascorbic Acid Content : 70% to 80% (On Dried Bases)

• As source of Iron in pharmaceutical preparations for making syrups, drops, tablets and capsules.
  Can also be used in food products and veterinary preparations as source of Iron.
