Insulation Bricks are high porosity refractories with low thermal conductivity and high porosity (no less than 45%) used to reduce heat losses and thus to maximize heat conservation within the furnace. The desirable feature of insulating bricks is the low thermal conductivity, which usually results from a high degree of porosity. Fireclay brick is made from clay minerals. It consists mainly of 18-44 % of alumina (Al2O3) and 50-80 % of silica (SiO2). It has low porosity and are durable for various re-heating process. It is mainly used in the low temperature parts of blast furnaces, waste incinerators and glass melting furnaces.
