The name of the stone has been derived from its origin, as it is quarried from Madurai mines, hence called Madurai Gold Granite. The stone has internal crystalline layers because of chemical deposition and these layers exude a rare glow to the stone. It is a Golden Yellow stone with dark-brown red garnets. Madurai Gold Granite is also known as Giallo Madura granite.
