Naproxen 250 Mg Tablet

Naproxen 250 mg is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and fever. It is commonly prescribed for musculoskeletal disorders, arthritis, menstrual pain, and other inflammatory conditions.

Naproxen works by:

• Inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2)

• Reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever

Naproxen 250 mg is used to treat:

• Osteoarthritis

• Rheumatoid arthritis

• Ankylosing spondylitis

• Gout

• Muscle pain, back pain, and sprains

• Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)

• Dental pain

• Fever and general body aches

• Adults: 250–500 mg twice daily, depending on the condition

• Maximum daily dose: Typically 1000 mg/day (in divided doses) unless advised otherwise

• Take after food to minimize stomach upset

• Stomach pain or discomfort

• Nausea

• Heartburn

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers

• Elevated blood pressure

• Kidney dysfunction

• Liver enzyme elevation

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Use with caution in patients with:

  • Peptic ulcer disease

  • Kidney or liver disease

  • Heart disease or hypertension

  • Asthma

• Avoid alcohol, as it increases the risk of stomach bleeding

• Not recommended during pregnancy (especially 3rd trimester) or breastfeeding without medical advice

• Other NSAIDs (increased risk of GI bleeding)

• Blood thinners (e.g., warfarin)

• Diuretics and antihypertensives

• Lithium

• Methotrexate
