The OIM course is aligned with the International Maritime Organization Resolution A.1079(28) from December 4, 2013. It covers various aspects such as construction, pipe-laying, accommodation barges, semisubmersible, and jackup drilling units, focusing on the use of anchors to check their positions. This course is suitable for intermediate and advanced offshore rigging professionals and requires candidates to have completed a BCO course (MOU Stability) and hold at least an IWCF Well Control Level 2 certificate. The OIM course is approved by the flag state of Liberia (LISCR) and aims to equip aspiring and current IIMs with the necessary practices and techniques to safely execute MOUs in a business setting. It is designed to simulate operational and emergency conditions such as in transit, ballasting, positioning, jacking, and loss of control conditions for a mobile offshore bottom-bearing, self-elevating unit (Jack-up Rig), providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to manage the vessel and crew under all circumstances. Upon completion of the course, candidates' eligibility will be assessed based on the criteria required by the IMO for OIM of MOU to ensure that they possess the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively execute MOUs to meet regulatory requirements.
