HyderabadMacrolide Antibiotic – Broad‑Spectrum
Azithromycin works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, suppressing protein synthesis and inhibiting bacterial growth—making it effective against various infections like respiratory (bronchitis, pneumonia), ENT (sinusitis, pharyngitis/tonsillitis), skin/soft‑tissue infections, otitis media, enteric (typhoid), and even some STDs like chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Convenient Once-Daily Dosing & Flexible Intake
A single 250 mg tablet is usually taken once daily, with or without food (ideally 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals), helping adherence and simplifying treatment.
Generally Well‑Tolerated with Mild Side Effects
Common reactions are gastrointestinal (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain), headache, dizziness, and skin rash—they're usually mild and transient. Serious effects like allergic reactions or liver issues are rare but warrant immediate attention.
Cautions: Liver/Kidney, Heart Rhythm, Pregnancy/Breastfeeding
Use with caution if you have existing liver/kidney problems or cardiac arrhythmias (QT prolongation risk). Pregnant or nursing women should only use it under physician guidance. Avoid alcohol and antacids within 2 hours of taking it.
