Toluene

Toluene, also known as toluol is an aromatic hydrocarbon. It is a colorless, water-insoluble liquid. Toluene is predominantly used as an industrial feedstock and a solvent. It is used in manufacturing of paint thinner, permanent markers, contact cement and certain types of glue, Lacquers, correction fluid, nail polish remover, and is used in the Printing and Leather tanning processes.

It is a water-insoluble solvent with characteristic thinner-like odor. It is a fast drying solvent and effective in cleaning oils, grease and paint spills.

To clean a component or surface, Toluene can be taken on a soft cotton cloth / sponge / brush and then wiped on the surface to be cleaned. The oil, grease, dirt etc. is removed and the solvent evaporates quickly.
The same process can be done by dipping the component in a bath of Toluene as well.
Not recommended for vapor degreasing and ultrasonic cleaning, as solvent is flammable
